The range consists of a wide variety of corporate, formal and casual wear, as well as caps, chefs uniforms and bags/luggage. Heat transfer printing is the method of transferring a desired image/design to a t-shirt using a heat press. The image is printed onto a piece of paper made specifically for doing heat transfers. The downside to heat transfer printing is that it is less durable than silk screening. The advantages of heat transfer printing is that it is much cheaper than screen printing as there are no screens to create. Ink is squeezed through a screen that has been covered in places, so that the ink only passes through in certain areas (the design) to create the final image. The ink is then dried/cured to ensure that it doesn’t wash out of the fabric. A squeegee was then used to force ink through the selected areas and on to the object to be printed. The film is removed and the excess emulsion is washed off, leaving the image on the screen. A separate screen is used for every different colour in the design to be printed.These then have to be placed on the screen printing machine and carefully registered to ensure that all the colours line up correctly once printed onto the t-shirt. Ink is deposited onto the screen and a squeegee is used to force the ink through the gaps in the mesh and onto the fabric. Due to the labour and costs involved in creating and setting up each of the screens this method of printing is used mostly for larger print runs.
