Alphapax Packaging has been born out of necessity to employ a substantial number of skilled ex Levy and Smith Starpak employees that has been affected by the insolvency of said company.

The Company, ALPHAPAX, was originally established in 2007 by Operations Director, Errol Louwrens, in the name of Econocut cc, which specialized in Plasma Profile Cutting and Powder Coating, with the majority of its contractual work targeting the packaging industry’s machine fabrication and manufacturing sector. Whilst running Econocut Errol was also in the employ of Starpak for almost 20 years and held down the position as Factory & Production Manager at Starpak/Levy & Smith and eventually even headed up the Design and Development function in Starpak’s Drawing Office. With the sudden and catastrophic financial collapse of Starpak, Errol and many highly skilled and experienced technicians and tradesmen found themselves unemployed and Errol decided that the time was opportune to concentrate on his existing company and expand it by offering employment to many of the ex Starpak staff. He then approached longtime work colleague, Bernie Jansen who had recently resigned from Starpak, after having served the packaging industry for over 40 years, to join him as an equal partner in his company.
